curbur
http://communityimpact.com/houston/development-construction/2016/01/22/groundbreaking-set-for-february-on-fedex-ground-distribution-facility-in-cypress/ "FedEx Corporation is preparing to break ground on what will be its largest ground distribution facility in Texas. The 800,000-square-foot hub will be located on a 484-acre tract of land at 8787 W. Grand Parkway N., Cypress. The site is located west of the Grand Parkway and north of FM 529, near where future extensions of West and Longenbaugh roads are expected to run. Few details have been released about the new hub, but officials said it will employ 400 people. Construction will begin in February, and the facility is slated for completion in August 2017. This is the second major project for FedEx in the Houston area. The company is also working on a 300,000-square-foot facility in Sugar Land, which will open this summer. FedEx Corporation released the following statement Jan. 25: 'The new facility, along with a new FedEx Ground building under construction in Sugar Land that is slated to open this summer, will enable us to continue to meet and exceed customer demands in the Houston area. The site was chosen because of its ease of access to major highways, proximity to customers’ distribution centers and a strong local community workforce for recruiting employees. The new facility is part of a nationwide network expansion to boost daily package volume capacity and further enhance the speed and service capabilities of the FedEx Ground network. Since 2005, the company has opened 11 new hubs featuring advanced material-handling systems and expanded or relocated more than 500 local facilities. The network enhancements have resulted in accelerating ground service delivery by one day or more in more than two-thirds of the United States. With these changes, FedEx Ground is faster to more overall locations, including more residential locations, than the competition.' "
