mkultra25
Ran across this piece from the pro-development New York YIMBY blog and thought it worthy of mention here: http://newyorkyimby.com/2015/03/community-control-is-destroying-americas-cities.html Even notoriously unzoned Houston – which set a record along with Oregon and Washington last year for units permitted – has its own way of elevating land use decisions above petty, local NIMBY concerns. Leaving aside the legitimacy of characterizing any land use objections as "petty, local NIMBY concerns", I'm fairly certain that the mere suggestion of forcing densification down the throats of Texas cities would bring out the pitchforks and torches faster and more virulently than any issue in living memory. Not that the Texas Legislature is likely to endorse such planning at the state level, as the author mentions Oregon and Washington have done.
