So, on the space where a shopping center was taken out for the freeway (had 24 Hour Fitness and a restaurant or two from what I could gather), they're building this thing?

Peli Peli Kitchen, a new fast casual concept from the growing South African restaurant chain Peli Peli, will open next year in a new development along the Katy Freeway, and the operator is looking for additional locations in downtown, Katy and The Woodlands.

The restaurant, which has full service eateries in the Galleria and in Vintage Park, has signed a lease for space in the Gateway at Spring Valley, a building under constructionat 9090 Katy Freeway at the northeast corner of Campbell and I-10. The opening is expected next spring.

“Peli Peli felt that their first Kitchen location should be prominent and have great visibility,” said Eric Lestin of CBRE, which represented the restaurant in its lease. “The building they have chosen is a perfect fit because of its proximity to Spring Branch, Memorial, Uptown and the Energy Corridor.”

In addition to the possible new Houston locations, Peli Peli — a top-rated restaurant on Yelp — is considering locations in Austin and Dallas, according to CBRE, which announced the lease.
