Heights Central Station - Mixed-Use Development of Yale St Post Office

Recommended Posts

From Swamplot today:

Here’s the scene from Heights Blvd. this morning, where the former Heights Finance Station — that was the fancy name for the neighborhood’s main post office — lies in trucked-off ruins. The construction fence along the right side of the image lines 11th St. The view from Brie Kelman’s camera faces west, toward Yale St.; the former Citgo gas station now known as whiskey bar Eight Row Flint, on the opposite side of Yale, is visible just to the left of center in the distance (if you look closely).

Here’s a different view of the site from just a few days ago:

Ready for this one to go up, happy to see things happening. I do miss my PO box being there. The 19th street office is so inconvenient.

From Boulevard Realty

HEIGHTS CENTRAL STATION

Heights Central Station is a little further out, with the projected completion date scheduled to fall in the second quarter of 2018, so we only know of two confirmed tenants, at this point.
  • Kolache Shoppe
    • When does it open? 2nd Quarter of 2018
    • What is it? Popular pastry shop offering kolaches with both sweet & savory fillings plus cinnamon rolls.
    • Why it’s a fit & something to look forward to? A mainstay on the Houston breakfast scene since 1970, the Kolache Shoppe is now expanded with its second location in a bigger standalone building in the Heights Central Station development. They plan on offering new, unique kolache flavors, expanding their Boomtown Coffee program, and will even have a drive-thru option.
  • Dish Society
    • When does it open? 2nd Quarter of 2018
    • What is it? Farm-to-table eatery serving American fare, craft beers & more in spare digs with an open kitchen.
    • Why it’s a fit & something to look forward to? Dish Society provides nothing but high quality, fresh ingredients from suppliers that include Atkinson Farms, Black Hill Ranch, Sustainable Harvesters, and Slow Dough Bread Company. Farm-to-table options like this are growing in popularity all around town and that is especially true for the Heights (Ritual, Coltivare, Field & Tides).
In case you’re curious about what else will be going in this mixed-use development, other tenants will include the following:
  • Dessert and Ice Cream and Coffee shop
  • Pet Bakery
  • High-end Hair Salon
  • Dentist
  • Delivery Dessert Shop
  • High-end Furniture shop
