Blue Dogs
Jan Carson was recently doing some business stuff in the private sector. ChannelTwoNews, who constructed NBC 2 KPRC-TV Houston's set with the skyline, which was sprawled out ? I have to assume other NBC stations took similar versions of this set. ChannelTwoNews
Jan Carson was recently doing some business stuff in the private sector.ChannelTwoNews, who constructed KPRC-TV's set with the skyline, which was sprawled out ?I have to assume other NBC stations took similar versions of this set. If I had to guess, I think the designer of the set was Gil Jimenez, who is still based in San Diego. The KPRC was somewhat of a copy of the one that he had designed for KNBC in Los Angeles several years prior, with some minor tweaks. That particular set was not designed solely for NBC affiliates, however. I think variations of it emerged elsewhere on other network affiliates around the same time in the mid or late 80s. His company is still quite active in set fabrication and design and they provide many of the sets for stations owned by Gray Television. One actually ended up at the TV station in Victoria a little over ten years ago and they definitely got a good amount of use out of it before they switched to one that was more HD friendly.
