fernz
Is there a thread for this? This is North of Wesheimer, west of teh Azalea Court project. From the Houston Chronicle: Crapitto’s Cucina Italiana will serve its last supper May 24. In an email blast to its customers, Frank Crapitto wrote: “ Our building (like the others around it) is scheduled to be torn down , so it is with great sadness that, after 19 years, Crapitto’s Cucina Italiana will serve its last supper on Saturday, May 24th. We hope to see you one last time (or a few last times) over the next week.”

houstontexasjack
That area is rapidly changing. Also, I like the "Azalea Court" name because it leads to an easy ad featuring Iggy Azalea..."I'm so fancy...."

Urbannizer
General manager Shannon Conway tells CultureMap that the construction "took all of our parking," which forced the decision to shutter. Frank Crappito plans to retire according to Conway, but the general manager may work with other employees at the restaurant to find a new space. http://houston.culturemap.com/news/restaurants-bars/05-19-14-longtime-houston-restaurant-forced-to-shutter-construction-of-the-hip-river-oaks-district-kills-its-business/
cloud713
Sorry for the new thread. I don't know what to search for but there is a metal structure that's currently about 3 stories high on the property just west of the mid lane azalea court complex. What's going here?

qtguy
Also, does anyone know what the steel building going up just to the south of Crappito's is? Construction seems to have all but stopped on it.

gene
so that ugly nondescript 3 story building in the photos is for retail?! it looks like it should be some kind of storage space or something...kooky! i have wondered forever why it was built and what it was for (and better yet, why its been sitting there for so long being unused or worked on etc...) it doesn't fit in with ROD or Highland Village...cant wait to see what moves in there...should be interesting as from the looks of it, its more suited for studios and office space etc...not retail. gene
I dont recall seeing this posted...but this just opened this month and is located in this weird building (2400 Midlane off Westheimer / Westheimer Oaks) and honestly i didn't like or understand this building until this opened...i drove by the other night and really liked the "neighborhood feel" of this place...and the place was buzzing too! i was shocked haha! http://www.houstonpress.com/restaurants/first-look-at-eloise-nichols-grill-and-liquors-8952219
Montrose1100
Old English font, the use of "libations", uncomfortable metal chairs. Tsk tsk... the interior overall looks nice but they went a little overboard on the brick wall (4th from the bottom). bitching ended.
