New construction at 1885 Saint James Place

New construction of a 135,000-square-foot office tower, described as a “boutique” building because it is not large, although it will have top quality finishes @ 1885 Saint James Place is going to
replace “one of the city's most photographed locations” - an iconic wedding venue, that was a part of Houston history.

The tower portion is decent enough, an improvement over some of the outdated 70's office buildings along St. James, but the lower portion is really horrible! The garage and entry are completely out of tune with the surroundings, the entry is minimized, and that whole section looks like any 70's suburban mall exterior. Too bad, and agree with MarathonMan's Randal Davis comment above. Hopefully some tall palms or cypress trees will be added in the future!

The landscaping from the nearby apartments would be nice, but that's to the discretion of the developer. I like the 70's & 80's office buildings. Matressfirm has their HQ there should anyone want to protest.
