hindesky
And there's about to be 2 more with the Catalyst going up, right?I spotted the first 2 vertical sections of one crane today, it would seem that the whole block footprint would require 2. cloud713
they filed 2 separate permits with the FAA for cranes, leading me to believe there will be 2 cranes.
toxtethogrady
The crane was working on a beautiful Sunday. Is it still beautiful? Hope you're avoiding those golf ball hailstones! Edited April 20, 2015 by toxtethogrady
hindesky
Is it still beautiful? Hope you're avoiding those golf ball hailstones! Thankfully it must have hailed itself out by the time it got to my part of Montrose.

cspwal
http://urbanland.uli.org/planning-design/city-almost-no-limits/ This article is mainly about the lack of zoning here, but there was an interesting tidbit about the market square tower the 40-story Hines Market Square tower, featuring a mix of luxury residential and commercial space that will offer amenities ranging from a virtual golf simulator to a grocery store, Did we know about this? I don't remember anything about the virtual golf simulator, and I didn't know if the grocery store was anything more than a rumor.

cloud713
Man idk how he flies his quad in downtown without losing controller signal. Both times I've tried I momentarily lost contact and the last time (earlier today) it had to automatically "return to home".

jt16
umm, that garage sure is a beast It is. Which is why I'm glad the residential tower next to it is of similar scale. It "neutralizes" the garages impact somewhat.
Nate99
It is. Which is why I'm glad the residential tower next to it is of similar scale. It "neutralizes" the garages impact somewhat. Both it and Hines' residential tower will be about the same height or a little taller than Calpine/717 Texas. They should serve to make the garage just sort of vanish in to the density rather than be the doorstop on the NE side of downtown.

Popular Post urbanize713
2. Market Square Tower Developer: Woodbranch Investments Landscape Architect: Kudela & Weinheimer Building Architect: Jackson & Ryan Delivered: Under construction now, with estimated completion in early 2017 One of Market Square Tower’s two pools will be a heart-stopper—40 floors up, it cantilevers over the edge of the tower. Three sides are glass enclosures, and there will be three window panes so bold swimmers can peer down to the street from the bottom of the pool. The deck will be top-quality, all granite on pedestal pavers. Kudela & Weinheimer (which released this new rendering for us) tells us it’s been particularly challenging meeting hurricane requirements on the 40th floor. https://www.bisnow.com/houston/news/multifamily/10-sexiest-pool-decks-in-houston-44975

Nate99
Peering between the building and garage, it looks like they are building in walkways between the two. Either that or they are taking all the space they can for those floorplans since the balconies would be extremely odd.
