Triton
Almost sold out already! http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/blog/breaking-ground/2014/05/belfiorealmost-sold-out.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+bizj_national+(Bizjournals+National+Feed) It makes me wonder if this place will serve as a second home for the elite as does One Park Place in downtown serves as a second residence for some of the people there. HoustonIsHome
Wow, and it says the Astoria is 70% sold. Are we building too short? Edited May 7, 2014 by HoustonIsHome

UtterlyUrban
Almost sold out already!http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/blog/breaking-ground/2014/05/belfiorealmost-sold-out.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+bizj_national+(Bizjournals+National+Feed)It makes me wonder if this place will serve as a second home for the elite as does One Park Place in downtown serves as a second residence for some of the people there.Yes, i believe that a number of the buyers may be "absentee" owners for much of the year. I can absolutely see a foreign national oil executive in a private business owning a condo here (or other complex). When he comes to town, he brings the family and they stay 2 months. They conduct business, shop, etc. Then head home or to yet another location.OPP is 90%+ leased according to the newspapers. Yet, the parking garage does seem to be much less than 90% full. Maybe a number of tenants don't have vehicles.... That is certainly possible. But, my bet is on the fact that a significant number of tenants are not full time occupants. They split their time between Houston and somewhere(s) else.

BigFootsSocks
How the hell is this one going up so fast? Astoria took a good 8000 years to finally get above ground.
fernz
This one has land around it, Astoria is using the entire plot. That makes logistics much more difficult.

bachanon
This one has land around it, Astoria is using the entire plot. That makes logistics much more difficult. did the astoria have a large amount of sales prior to breaking ground? belfiore was practically sold out before it started going up. Houston19514
did the astoria have a large amount of sales prior to breaking ground? belfiore was practically sold out before it started going up.Yeah, IIRC, Astoria was at or above 60% sold prior to construction. fernz
What are the chances that the tallest building in Houston will be residential someday? Chase has got to be beaten eventually. Is there a building called the Houstonian?Fat chance, unless it's mixed used....and still not looking very likely, IMO. Yes, there is a Houstonian condo high rise, next to the Houstonian hotel. http://www.har.com/highrisefinder/dispHirDetail.cfm?building_id=14
