"Good Neighbor Healthcare Center, which is developing a $19 million facility on West Gray..."

"Good Neighbor is building a 45,000-square-foot center slated to open in late 2013."

As of now, it seems like the facility will only go on the single corner lot at 277 W Gray St. The lot to the east and and the lot to the southeast are not part of this development.  Those are currently being market by Stream Realty.

The San Jose Clinic at 2615 Fannin St. is three stories and 55,000 sq. ft.

Executive Director Janet Donath said in a statement. “While we couldn’t be more grateful to the city for their support, we have always known that we needed to return to the heart of the community.”

I fail to see how the corner of W Gray and Taft is the heart of their demographic.  Long term the 4th ward is being redeveloped with the rest of midtown.  This location makes little sense beyond a 10 year window, it would be much more appropriate nearer Gray and 59 with the rest of the social services buildings.

Another disappointing development, would have been a great site for a multi family project.

It will be the headquarters. Something like the clinic at 2615 Fannin could add to the street level if they do it right.

"New Capital Campaign

Good Neighbor Healthcare Center embarked on a $15-million capital campaign to build a new community health center on its former location at West Gray in downtown Houston. While the existing clinic on Heights Boulevard and the satellite location in the Northside community will continue to provide health care services, the new West Gray location was envisioned by GNHC’s Board of Directors and leadership as Good Neighbor’s permanent headquarters."

So I have some more information on this.

4 Story building along Gray

    - Northern side will have a garden/gathering area

    - Drop off area

    - 100 person community conference room

2+ story garage directly behind building

    - South side of building

Community Garden

   - Along O-Neil or Taft... not exactly sure

Ground breaking is expected to occur between September-December 2013

It's on the original location according to the video. Great for them and they provide a wonderful and needed set of services for the community. I'm not sure how this doesn't fit the "community." I think alot of new people in midtown/Montrose don't fit the community and should return to the suburbs with their exclusionary mentalities.

Or maybe the poster was trying to point out it's not close to the people it seeks to serve. But don't let me get in the way of the insults. Exclusionary? You just put huge amounts of people (suburbanites into one of your tiny boxes).

Reading and forgot I was the one who said might be bad fit - area is definitely changing and as I have said before freedmans town ( like it or not) is getting squeezed like a pimple from all directions.

north - the huge new apt complex next to fed

West - new HS Campus and 500k tow homes west of that

east - new Camden / Post - bars ect as midtown expands towards grey

South - Condos galore

I think the shot gun houses should be preserved and restored - however people are missing the boat if they think that this will eventually happen. houston is booming - get Chevron or some big corp to help donate and fix up a single shot gun house - there's got to be a way.

Nonsensical rant over - goodnight

Thank you for posting this update, but is this a sign that fell over or is this really a cancellation of a project? Not necessarily you, but it would be nice if someone could clarify this.

The rendering of Good Neighbor was deliberately taken down and two new "For Information" signs were added to the site.
