Leading the development are two Houston businesswomen with around 30 years combined experienced in advertising, marketing and real estate. cspwal
Looks like Your Pie is moving along nicely - they've poured the floor and aluminum studs for the walls are growing like stalactites. cspwal
"Opening Fall 2015" Still no activity at the other two retail spots though. I wonder if Sky House is holding out for certain kinds of tenants, or there's just not that much interest in a location with no parking lot. KinkaidAlum
We almost put our new store there (home goods) but the numbers just aren't there yet for downtown. It's getting close though.
cspwal
No! I would have shopped there - I need a new lamp. How serious were the talks? Did they (Skyhouse or whoever is leading the retail) mention anything special about the kind of retail they want?

BigFootsSocks
I believe there's no interior buildout in the empty spaces, and because of the nature of those business it's a risky short-term lease.
Twinsanity02
The top of the second skyhouse, under construction, is impossible to see due to the camera angle. I have no idea if these are changed from time to time.
cspwal
Yeah the interior of the two open spots is just gravel/dirt floors, concrete floors above. There are some pipes sticking up, and there's probably also electricity coming from somewhere, but you'd have to do a lot of work to build it out for the first tennant

j_cuevas713
Why not let seasonal shops take up residence in the meantime? I was eating dinner in Portland around Halloween at a wedding and all these kids were running in the streets dressed like zombies. How about a Halloween costume shop right now?How about hell no?
jmitch94
I happened to go by this development earlier tonight and I saw that the new restaurant was now open with a line that went out the door and down the building.

DrLan34
http://www.chron.com/business/real-estate/article/SkyHouse-creates-mini-downtown-neighborhood-6758794.php "The first tower, SkyHouse Houston, opened last year with 336 units. The building is 78 percent occupied, manager Kristina Cotter said this week on a tour of the property." ents in SkyHouse Houston start at about $1,500 and go up to $3,300. Units include small studios, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments. Each has a balcony. Atlanta-based Novare Group and Batson-Cook Development Company along with local developer Peter Dienna are jointly developing the project, which will include street-level retail. Pizza chain Your Pie recently opened in the first building. SkyHouse Main is expected to open this summer.

urbanize713
Driving by this I spotted a coming soon sign in the retail spot at the bottom of the garage. All I could make out was "café." Does anyone else have any additional details? Edited May 3, 2017 by urbanize713

Texasota
Bueno. Coffee shops desperately needed downtown.
UtterlyUrban
It's good to see this space filling up with a coffee shop or otherwise. But I disagree that coffee shops are desperately needed downtown.
Texasota
I would say this part of downtown in particular needs more, especially with three new apartment buildings.

UtterlyUrban
With this opening, do the 2 skyHouses still have retail available?
kbates2
Yes, most of the spots are still open. I would guess that there are 3 - 6 spaces left depending on the size.
cspwal
There’s two spots left in skyhouse Houston and the corner spot left in skyhouse main. Rumors have it a pharmacy might move into the Main Street spot of skyhouse Houston
