Demo Day launches Mayor Annise Parker’s 2012 demolition initiative, which will include razing approximately 189 dangerous buildings at locations throughout the city. On May 19, members of the Houston Contractors Association are donating their services to bulldoze a portion of these buildings. The debris will be cleared in the weeks that follow. The initiative will continue until all of the structures have been demolished. Promoting public safety and enhancing the quality of life for residents are top priorities for Mayor Parker’s Administration. One way to accomplish these goals is by eliminating blighted, hazardous buildings in Houston neighborhoods.
