Smooth Jazz 95.7 The Wave R.I.P.

Haven't there been news stories though that satellite radio is bleeding money and may not be long for this world?

In an earlier post, I told everyone that I had XM and that I wouldn't switch to terrestrial radio. Well, I got rid of satellite radio, but I'm not back with terrestrial radio. XM changed it's lineup and it messed up the playlists on my fav stations. So I quit that. I won an iPod shortly after the changeover took place, so I put all of my favorites on the iPod. I'm sitting good now.

In keeping with the title of this thread, for those who don't know -- the smooth jazz station is still on the air in Houston. It's on 95.7's HD2 channel, so you'll need an HD radio. It bills itself as KHJZ-HD2, even though technically it's KKHH-HD2.

You can also listen online at KHJZ.com and if you have an iPhone you can listen with the AOL Radio app.

I heard that they never went through with the HD station. But you can hear it online? Does anyone know?

On the AOL Radio application it shows up as KHJZ-HD2, and it streams fine. I was surprised to find the music is somewhat different than the smooth jazz station here.

The only reason I even though to look for it on AOL Radio is because it's listed in the Radio Time directory for Houston-Galveston (http://radiotime.com/region/c_100007/Houston-Galveston.aspx) which lists a bunch of the HD radio stations in Houston.

The iBiquity directory for Houston (http://www.ibiquity.com/hdradio_find_a_station?state=TX&thisBeColorOver=ff920f&thisBeColorOut=11839d&theCity=37) shows KKHH's HD-2 channel as a dance channel and the HD-3 as a relay of KIKK(AM) - CNN650. But the iBiquity lists are frequently outdated.

I think the Radio Time list must be right, because http://khjz.com promotes itself as being on 95.7 in Houston.

I guess we'll just have to wait for a HAIFer with an HD radio to scan it for us and let us know for sure.
