editor
Both the Houston Business Journal and the Houston Chronicle are making noises about a new downtown Hotel. The HBJ says there's a $130k deal in the works, while the Chron talks about how desperately the convention business needs it.It's a cycle of prosperity -- when you build more hotel rooms, you attract more conventions. When you attract more conventions, you need more hotel rooms. The convention industry isn't so New York-Chicago-Boston fixated as they used to be. Major meetings are defecting to the sunny skies and union-free cost benefits of Orlando and Las Vegas. Houston is salivating for a piece of the action.
