Wish it could have broke the 500 foot mark, but that is a nice tower. OPP looks like it was completed years ago in that rendering.

Also, this small panel rendering of the lobby area.

Well done, CTN.

I agree that the OPP does look amazingly real, so does DG. :) Whoever did this rendering deserves an "atta' boy!" for the work he did on this one.

Very nice... I love it. Great location, too... it's going to look great towering over Discovery Green, especially with One Park Place right next to it.

I like the pictures of the actual building too. However, what happened to all of the buildings behind them? Our tallest building has mysteriously vanished.

We should have a "blue water" award for excellence in artistic renderings.

It's been almost three months since we've seen a construction pic. Surely someone's been by there in the last couple of weeks. :(

Actually, there are a few on the last page that I took a couple of weeks ago.

Anyway, here are a couple of the site from today. Looks like they'll be putting the crane in soon.

the video presentation is pretty neat.

Really??... for the public to view?? :o Neat! :D

But seriously... is this true? I may want to check that out, but only if I know it's 100% true... that's early for me to get up on a Saturday morning... if I am up that early it's usually b/c I haven't been to bed yet.... that happens more times than I should say. ha ha

If anyone can confirm to me that they're definitely going to be there on the observation deck for the pour, I'll FedEx you some HAIF cards to distribute to the crowd.

either that or some kind of battle royale...possibly involving donoughts and coffee with the viewing platform as some kind of arena...either way, seems like an interesting day...

I think that the old George Carlin observation that the extent to which a person is observed to be an asshole is inversely proportional to the proximity between you and he at the time that the trait is revealed to you really does hold true.

There's probably something about this on YouTube if you wanted to look at the bit.

Whatever do you mean? We're talking about getting together early on a Saturday morning to watch a foundation being poured. It's very much on topic.

...and fun.

I think it's going to be up to Vertigo. I sent him about 300 cards the other day by Priority Mail and they should be there in time.

I'm sure he wouldn't mind taking a day off of work for the good of HAIF!

Actually showed up as the donuts were delivered. Surprised to see the number of photographers around Discovery Green with tripods and equipment just roaming about.

Anyway, some early photos...

We got out there also, it was pretty hectic. The platforms weren't too stroller friendly so I just stepped up for a bit, on the side that apparently no one else was hanging out on...maybe I wasn't supposed to be there. That was a lot of rebar and concrete.

...and it's damn hot here. I feel my annual urge to whine about the heat coming on strong.

wow, that is sweet.

That'll be a nice cluster of buildings on the east side if la Quinta and another convention hotel gets built.

Here's an outstanding shot. With the garage, you get two blocks knocked off with one project. Combine that with Disco G and OOP and that's a lot of real estate transformed in what used to be a dormant part of downtown.

Now I look for someone to come along to rehab the old Days Inn on the south end to help spur redevelopment own there. Once upon a time, that looked like it might have been an Ed Wulfe special but alas...

If they were going to show Discover finished, they could have finished the apartment complex across from 5HC too. :P

Nevermind, just read the brochure.

2 Stories, 16,169 ft of rentable retail space at street and mezzanine level including a 4 star destination restaurant.

I'm guessing the restaurant will be on that overhang thing, which will probably provide an excellent view of the park. This is really an exciting building.
