  1. There are CBRE signs up at the Bethel Church at 1107 Shepherd, or the block bounded by Shepherd, Durham, Center and Nett. This might create difficulty for the restaurant formerly known as Floyd's, since they use the church parking lot for their customers. 2. My friend is finally putting Party Boy on the market for $10,500,000. Quite a sizable lot in a good developing area. We'll have to see what comes of this.
  3. http://www.chron.com/business/real-estate/article/Heights-area-farmers-market-in-deal-to-be-sold-11112989.php I had heard talk that some prospective buyers were looking at closing down the market and putting in housing or retail. So, this is good news. But it will be very tricky to balance the old and the new. If you push to hard to upgrade, all the vendors will bolt and set up shop at a flea market north of 610. If you do not do enough, any new vendors will have trouble surviving. It would be nice to see Airline Seafood comeback and have a seafood counter integrated into the market.
  4. Just noticed last night that Chippendale Eastlake Antiques on the corner of 19th and Rutland is gone - space has been cleared out and there is a for lease sign on the front of the building. Anyone know what happened to them? Gone out of business, moved elsewhere, untenable rent increase, or something else? They seemed like a fixture in that spot, and had been there as long as I've been living in the area. I don't think Braun will have much trouble leasing the space, as something that size in the center of activity on 19th doesn't become available very often.
  5. I see a crane I have to stop and ask questions. Talked with one of the crew members about what they were building. He said it will be a battery substation that will supplement the other substation during power outages and stabilize it at other times.
  6. 1500 Oliver Street in the First Ward. This is part of Washington Corridor area of Houston (I think). Aerial view: Street View from February 2017
  7. I created a thread for this a while back, but I can't find it in through Google cache since all of my contributions to this forum were deleted. So, I'm reupping the thread again minus the posts that were in the previous thread (since I didn't save it and it's been removed from Google cache). 1505 Oliver Street in the First Ward. 8. This thread was originally created September 9, 2019. I'm reposting / reupping this because this post and other content from me are no longer available on the forum due to a mod removing my account and its content in "error" (supposedly). The information may be outdated or no longer relevant, but reupping provides an archive to what was posted. It also provides a place to post future updates about this property if and when it's redeveloped An archive link of the thread before its deletion is coming. 1805 West 18th Street in the Timbergrove Manor neighborhood. 10. "Arriving in 2024, XSpace - which has an established location in Austin—is coming to the Houston Design District. The concept is under construction at 7022 Old Katy Road, Houston, and bills itself as a modern take on commercial and storage spaces. Unlike traditional coworking and storage spaces, XSpace customers can own their units outright." https://communityimpact.com/houston/heights-river-oaks-montrose/development/2023/02/02/xspace-to-bring-futuristic-commercial-condo-spaces-to-houston-design-district-in-2024/

  12. Friend said she saw a sign out front today that said "Going out of Business. Ladies Only". Anyone know what's going on there?
  13. Looks like Lovett is surprisingly remodeling, and not tearing down, an old warehouse near washington, on Sawyer/Edwards, right along the railroad tracks. http://www.lovettcommercial.com/Detail.aspx?idwebarea=36&webid=159 Im sure it's not news to many, but it now looks like the are actually doing some construction there. Anyone have any pictures or know any additional info such as possible tenants?
  14. This site will be redeveloped into a more-urban retail center. Sears will move out to a temporary location until the completion. Also includes residential; the rendering on page 5 may be one of the project. http://issuu.com/weingartenrealty/docs/sears_vision_book-print

The map for Bungalows on 22nd St shows the entire 1500 block of North Shepherd as development called Market at Houston Heights. The properties are between W 16th St and W 15th St, across the street from Wooster's Annex and Heights Bier Garten. The site plan depicts three restaurants and a retail space.

  23. First of all, I'm not being "let's demolish everything that helps po folk" guy. This is a genuine inquiry. How do Label Warehouse and Sand Dollar stay in business? I imagine the tax rate on those places is insane, and while I do see people shop there, I can't imagine it's enough revenue to cover (letter alone profit). Is there some sort of subsidy or tax shelter for businesses like these? Has no one thought this would be a good indie movie theatre or retail spot? Just curious.
