  1. Bummer...I was hoping it would take off but it had a lot of short-comings as mentioned by other folks. I stopped by several times...tried the sandwiches and coffee (good but pricey). I do remember and appreciate them opening immediately after Hurricane Ike and making an effort to provide hot coffee and food.
  2. We bought ours from the antique shop inside Yale Grill (Corner of 21st and Yale) last year. We had it matted and framed.
  3. Before buying our home, we looked into this area in 2004. We liked the architecture style of the homes . The lots are huge as well. We drove around several times during the day and late at night. Unfortunately, we were turned off with the surrounding area. It is an
  4. I wished they had built a Target SuperCenter instead. Last evening, I noticed a tagger has been defacing the area (entrance sign for Target/Wachovia). The store also has an active police presence scanning the parking lot area (witnessed the officer using binoculars). Did something happen recently?
  5. Chatters Cafe & Bistro (140 S Heights Boulevard) has an excellent weekend brunch.
  6. I stand corrected on the "unavailable" items. I did notice that the dishes were identical except for the sauce chosen (lemon grass, Blazing singapore, etc.). If this place gets it together like my favorite chinese/fusion places ("China Stix" - West U or "Bamboo" off Waugh), I will be a regular customer.
  7. I was looking forward to this new restaurant to open. We tried it for lunch this past weekend. The service was friendly buy quite slow. A lot of their menu items had sold out (appetizers/soups). The food was average at best (Lemon Grass beef and Singapore beef dishes). But...to be fair...the place is new and needs time to sync up. I will try them again in the future.
  8. Vietnam Restaurant on 19th is great. The service and food is excellent. I seldom stray from the following: 1. Spring rolls 2. Beef Pho...xtra mint 3. Cafe Su Dat I am not sure if they serve those delicious sandwiches. The fresh, French bread is great. Add slice jalape
  9. ThaiSpice on 19th... We went during the week (Tuesday evening). The food is trendy Thai cuisine. 1. The royal dumplings were quite good 2. Spring rolls were fair 3. Green and yellow curries were fair -- veggies were under cooked 4. Hot tea was warm at best and had no flavor 5. It offers BYOB/BYOW. It has a service charge per person of $ 1.50 I know the place just opened and it probably needs time to sync up. I will try it again in the near future. P.S.: We finally tried the restaurant "Bamboo House" on 540 Waugh Dr. It was excellent.
  10. The restaurant is several blocks away from my home. I hope the food is good. http://www.b4-u-eat.com/eat002.asp?Z=&A=&H...=thai+spice&S=N
  11. The article was in a magazine that I picked up at the restaurant "Spanish Flower" several weeks ago. I did look for a website but was unable to find one. The magazine stand is found at the entrance to the restaurant.
  12. FYI: According to a local Houston Heights magazine, McCain's Market will be opening in the retail shop center on the intersection of 6th Street and Heights Blvd. The store will offer a butcher shop, fresh fish, bread, soups, salads, coffee, etc.
  13. There seems to be a lot of unoccupied retail space off Heights Blvd, specifically, the intersection of 6th street / Heights Blvd and the shopping center at the entrance to the Houston Heights off 4th street. I did see a new shop in the process of opening called McCain
  14. I've been to Dry Creek a couple of times now (Saturday
