You think Sand Dollar clears that plus overhead?

First of all, I'm not being "let's demolish everything that helps po folk" guy. This is a genuine inquiry. How do Label Warehouse and Sand Dollar stay in business? I imagine the tax rate on those places is insane, and while I do see people shop there, I can't imagine it's enough revenue to cover (letter alone profit). Is there some sort of subsidy or tax shelter for businesses like these? Has no one thought this would be a good indie movie theatre or retail spot? Just curious.

Nope. Certainly don't trust that. I'll pay $10 for a popsicle if it means not having to eat the Bicycle Man's mysterious confections.

Maybe we need a Pizza Heights moniker floated around. I wouldn't call it oversaturation yet, but I do find it a little quirky considering there remain a couple of culinary gaps to be filled in the hood. -

BUT DO THEY HAVE RANCH?! (They were always out of one basic-ass ingredient or another) Never had a problem with the menu but it was really just theoretical at best and a bill of lies at worst. -

Why the negativity? (Or maybe I'm misreading?) I like Mellow. There's one in BR and Lafayette where I'm currently stationed and I have always enjoyed it. -

The Creeks' love affair with Austin is irritating. Other than those places, I think that's it. -

Great sign of critical thinking and willingness to adjust. (Although the opposite end of the spectrum-constant fluctuation, es no bueno for a restaurant/service). Not convinced another pizza place will go gangbusters that close to Collinas, but surely it will do better than overpriced cereal and dried Japanese seaweed snacks. -

Maryam's will be gone within three years if not sooner. Disorganized and expensive. Which is a bummer because the owners were extremely nice and energetic and the space is great. Well, I say the space is great but once Maryam's bites it, it will have become one of those weird black holes. Now don't get me wrong, my opinion from above is contingent on things staying the same. They could always get it together. Best of luck! -

For sake of conversation, can anyone she'd light on the purpose of the rest of the building that houses Krafsmen Cafe? I've always thought it was a great building,, despite not knowing what it is/was. Best options for repurposing? -

Not to hijack your question, but did want to mention two other things that have been on my mind: 1.) Is it just me, or is Heights General Store, and to a lesser extent the restaurant above, missing the mark? High prices and limited/typical selection are killing this place it seems. Haven't been back to the restaurant after getting a tough, overpriced steak, but I don't hold grudges too long and will re - visit for a cocktail. Which sort of spurs my secondary questions - do the dry restrictions prevent selling beer ala convenience store even if run like a club, because if I could get a sixes of high quality brew from HGS, it would be ON. 2.) In an unrelated and not so long winded query, has anything else become of the Longhorn auto dealer restaurant speculation on N Shep? Wouldn't mind a culinary fill - in on the soon to be demolished car wash in 19th either... Dying for info. -

Smoothie King is the next tenant next to Fat Cat, IF my crappy eyesight isn't failing me. Guess every hood needs one.
