  1. It might not be the best steakhouse, but no one should go there for the steak. Their pork chop is unrivaled. I don't often use the word phenomenal, mainly because I can't spell it without assistance from Google, but also because it is a strong word, and the pork chop from Perry's is nothing short of phenomenal. Do yourself this favor: Find a Perry's near your office, find out what day they have their pork chop lunch special (like $10 for pork chop) and go early.

  9. I just received this email notice a few minutes ago. So I guess there will be a fight for this project getting off the ground. After rereading this I think they should have re read it also because they really botched the last couple of sentences.. NMCA Members and Friends of the Montrose Community Weingarten's Realty is planning on doing some major construction and renovation to parts of the historic River Oaks Shopping Center. They will be submitting their request before the Houston Archaeological and Historical Commission at a June 15th meeting. THE HAHC meeting is open to the public and begins at 3 p.m. in council chambers on the ground floor of City Hall Annex, 900 Bagby Street. Anyone wishing to address HAHC must sign in before 3 p.m. If you are concerned about the preserving this neighborhood landmark that features of one of the few remaining examples art deco style architecture in Houston, please considering attending this meeting. You may also want to express your concerns to city Councilman Ellen Cohen, and Councilman-at-Large David Robinson. This is the link to additional information published on the Houston Preservation website http://mailchi.mp/preservationhouston/discover-rice-universitys-distinctive-architecture-this-sunday-evening-721053?e=0836c09fb4

  10. This is the truth. Used to work by the Perrys meat market on Scarsdale. Best pork chop I've ever had.

  11. Ontop of a mid priced meal is incorporating the original building. Win/win.

  12. Looks nice. CPK stinks. I live very close and I'd much rather have Perry's steakhouse here. It might not be the best steakhouse but it's good for a mid priced meal.

  15. saw this mural over the weekend, thought it was pretty funny and people here would enjoy it. This is on La Branch and Truxillo (near Alabama). wasn't sure where to post, figure this thread worked.

  16. It's very unfortunate. Arebella is 70% sold and Randy's giving every real estate agent who sells the remaining units a Telsa Model 3. I'm sure he could have found a different solution regarding the HVAC issue.

  17. Is the residential tower still scheduled for 38 floors? If so looks like another 19 or 20 floors to go.

  19. Oh I have a very wasteful imagination dedicated subway from the Apple store to Starbucks overhead cable car system that goes from the parking garage to memorial park a scale replica of the Colossus of Rhodes astride Westheimer escalator, stairs and an elevator to a cantilevered viewing platform over the train tracks (does not go back down on the other side) aviary filled with drones

  20. Most major cities around the globe and even here in the US have more in common with New York then they do with Houston. Striving to add dense walkable pockets in the formerly neglected core doesn't compromise Houston's unique identity.

  21. Compared to the interior of his last couple projects, this is fantastic. Have to look at it through a Randall Davis lens.

  22. I don't think we're looking at the same pictures. This already looks dated and drab and it isn't even open yet. That bathroom is simply a hot mess with the mixture of colors and materials, and no, the black Hollywood glam chandelier isn't still in style. The kitchen looks like apartment grade garbage from 10 years ago. HANOVER's rental properties are so much fresher and clean than this. I guess since most of the buyers in these properties won't ever live in them it doesn't really matter.

  23. Me too. We need the density. As far as I can tell the only way to get Texans out of their cars is to make parking expensive and difficult. New York City is hot and humid in the summer and yet without thinking you can walk 20 blocks. 5-10 years ago you wouldn't see a pedestrian in Houston unless their car broke down. We do need some pedestrian overpasses though for Westheimer at Highland Village, Allen Parkway, Post Oak @ Westheimer etc so we don't get mowed down! I love this city though and we are living here in a very exciting time.
