  6. I quoted Hinedesky's photos from 2015 that show the ground as dirt at grade when the tower crane was installed. The southeast side photo that Hinedesky posted 2/26 show the entrance to the garage and 2 concrete levels of the garage. I suspect that it will get a facade simliar to the north side that will hide it really well. Also, I think the north side is going to have a large lobby area or GFR

  9. If decision makers aren't already reading HAIF, let your voice be heard about your opinions on downtown and take their survey! http://www.plandowntownhou.com/participate.html One of the things I liked is giving us the chance to map out our routes via foot, driving etc and showing which are our favorite streets and blocks.

  10. If you didn't have a chance to hear it KUHT/ 88.7 had Bob Eury on from Houston Central /Downtown district taking calls and discussing this new plan. He directed people to the survey and spoke to the initiative and ongoing projects to improve downtowns atmosphere. If you go to Kuht 88.7 you can pull up the interview by simply looking at 3/13/17 archives Houston Matters downtown. I worked as a stake holder representative on early consulting for lighting, landscaping, street parking, signage and the pedestrian realm with Bob and Guy Hagsette on the Cotswold project. I really enjoyed getting the opportunity to work as a group in helping to offer insight into such a successful redevelopment of downtowns Historical east west cross streets. I can remember when they started planting the trees and now they're all so large. That area looks and feels so different and pedestrian friendly now. It makes you realize that if you want you can help make a difference in this city if you take the time. Thats why its important for all of us with such strong opinions about how this downtown should evolve that its important for all of us to take the survey.

  12. You typically don't start construction or even get financing unless there is a signed lease in place, in which case it is too late for Whole Foods to drop out without some serious repercussions for them.

  13. Images aren't coming up for me. They hid it incredibly well from the north side. Are your photos from the east and south side?

  14. Sorry if this has been asked already, but where is the parking garage? Underground? Seeing it from the north, I can't tell where it is or if it has one.

  15. The project is still going forward in some way. Construction has never stopped. Hopefully just the design of the building is the reason they took down the old pictures.

  16. Sorry for the lack of photographic evidence, but there is a VERY LARGE hole on this site. Like half a block by half a block by 10 feet deep large. Quite the progress since I drove by a week ago.

  18. There's somewhat of a chicken/egg situation here. Lack of transit makes it impossible for Houston to get anywhere near San Francisco in terms of density, but, especially since we are continuing to grow in population, there's no reason for that to continue in perpetuity. This really does seem like a great, catalyzing spot to work on that: High speed rail connection to Dallas Connect to Uptown BRT Short term: express buses to downtown Medium term: extend Green Line LRT to NW Transit along Washington Long term: Extend high speed rail to downtown; add links to other cities

  20. The old YMCA Building and the Chronicle complex come to mind. We've lost a few gems in this cycle too. And I am thinking Houston has grown enough that parking garages shouldn't really count. Sure, it's better than an empty lot but they detract from adding anything to the street scape (sidewalks) other than added danger.

  21. I like that they covered the garage with this wood which kind of hides the bare wires. I wonder if this is the pool area on the roof deck?

  25. Emancipation Park is going to be a beautiful park and the views of downtown will be remarkable. It has so many different areas for recreation and entertainment and It would be a great place for some kind of public sculpture, and hopefully they plan on adding art to the park. if you haven't driven by recently you'd be amazed at the extent to which it is being developed. I am very happy to see this effort going into this side of 288 and hopefully this will bring much pride to the neighborhood. Between this and Baldwin the east side is really gaining some magnificent outdoor places for recreation and peaceful tranquility. I think a walk through Baldwin park on Elgin in that canopy of Live Oaks is one of the most bucolic settings in Houston. Its a truly remarkable grouping of Live Oaks in one park.

  27. Someone must be moving in but they won't be able to use the west side parking garage entrance, looks like they are putting in some type of draining system to keep from flooding the lower portions of the garage.
