  3. Widening the sidewalks and adding trees on the west side of the 100 block of Main St. When done, it should match the updated trees and sidewalk on the East (UHD) side.

  6. I cannot imagine that they will be open and ready by January 1 so that fans can start to book prior to Super Bowl Sunday. Seem like a pipe dream to me but, "G'luck."

  7. ^^^ simply OUTSTANDING illustrations @TowerSpotter.... well done! if i have stated it once, i shall state it again, HOTEL ALESSANDRA, shall indeed become the catalyst that jumpstarts retail, movement, and outright dynamism at GREENSTREET. not to mention DALLAS STREET overall. this is going to become a long needed gorgeous downtown retail district...

  8. Nice pics. The Dallas Street improvements have done wonders for the area. Now with Alessandra and Marlowe, hopefully the retail district starts to take off.

  10. Oh I agree. Some people seem to think otherwise so my post was being somewhat sarcastic.

  12. I think for now, the plan to turn this into an underground parking garage is a great idea. It it keeps the Dome upright, functional, buys time for a bigger plan and (hopefully) will turn a profit. All while not taxing local residents - although I wish the tax plan they have would expire once it's not needed anymore. Pretty much all the pie in the sky ideas are still feasible with this garage plan.

  13. If we had made more of an effort to maintain more of the older crop of buildings maybe this one would have been forced to be more ornate. Kind of like the hotel Monteleone reno. Still mad at you Lancaster.

  16. I disagree. It is nothing to shout about, but I don't think it resembles 2016 main. To me it looks more attractive in person. Aris is a much more attractive building and does fit it better with MS, while at the same time looking more modern, but I think this building is more safe than unattractive. Now the embassy suites and the Hampton/homeward suites around Discovery Green, those are unattractive buildings

  19. ^^^ ok HAIF, i am now ready. i am now ready for randall davis to just pop out of one of houston's famous wine bars to relay to all of us that we are being PUNKED! yes, that's it... we are being PUNKED... right? i for one, simply refuse to believe that good ole "tricky dick" randall has suddenly decided to pounce out of nowhere to bestow to this community a brand new rendering / concept of his once gorgeous ARABELLA in all of her once striking glory, to a building that looks as though it's going through a constant metamorphosis. i mean really! this new concept reminds me of a transformer or a shapeshifter. he took the once proud ASTORIA, and turned it into something akin to a light beamer straight to planet mars or even pluto. now, he has taken the once beautiful dress / gown off of ARABELLA, and turned her into a cheaply dressed harlot! randall, my pal, if you can see me.. if you can hear me.. i beg of you, please tell us that we are being PUNKED!

  20. http://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/columnists/sarnoff/article/Designs-reawaken-Dowling-Street-s-forgotten-past-7465740.php?t=d7c7de44d3&cmpid=twitter-premium Park plan 'still in play' The chain-link fence surrounding a 1970s-era office complex at the northeast corner of Westheimer and Mid Lane portend the demolition of the vacant structures that sit on a pricey plot of Houston real estate. The property owner purchased the development several years ago. On the back of the property, an 8-story apartment building called The James opened last year. A multifamily building with 17 stories called The Ivy is under construction. Once the existing office buildings are taken down, it would be expected that the owner, Stonelake Capital Partners, would have plans for another building, maybe two. Yet Stonelake says it will develop a 5-acre park at the front of the site, an amenity to the residents, according to the company's website. Alan Schoellkopf, Stonelake's chief operating officer, confirmed that the park plan is still in play but directed additional questions to an associate with the firm who did not return calls. Perhaps the park will be temporary and buildings will be developed once the commercial real estate market improves. But maybe it will become another example of urban green space, as developers put more of an emphasis on nature and community spaces. The site is between Highland Village and River Oaks District. It includes several low-rise buildings that housed an Indian restaurant, two banks, medical offices and other small businesses.
