Globe Life Park

There was a interesting article in the Texas Monthly magazine.  Why the Texas Rangers cannot fill their stadium in Arlington.  Sports fans in the Metroplex don't want to drive there.  Parking is $40 and the Rangers are there till 2024.  They are now wanting a retractable stadium in downtown Dallas.  Or put a roof on the Cotton Bowl.  I have been there to see a game in the summer and it is so hot we left!  It is a hassle to get there.  Arlington is the largest city without a transportation system.

I go a couple times a year to watch the Astros and have always paid way less than $40 to park. But the stadium is in a very inconvenient location. I wish it was near DT so I could check a few things out when I go as it's the only reason I visit the DFW area anymore.

Parking is not $40. That is not what that short piece says. (http://www.texasmonthly.com/the-daily-post/why-cant-the-rangers-sell-out-baseball-games/)

The stadium is not in an inconvenient location. It's right next to JerrahWorld, which seems to get plenty of dupes in the door on the regular. It's also near Six Flags, which seems to do ok in the popularity stakes.

Fickle sports fans. A few years ago they had pretty solid crowds, averaging 42K+ in 2012. Those people didn't seem to mind the location.

Any talk of moving to a new stadium is just another ploy by billionaires to get even richer.

How it compares to other similarly designed retractable roof ballparks:

May be debatable but it appears Rangers new park may be borrowing Minute Maid Parks left field quirks, with a short porch and bullpen.
