fatesdisastr
Does anyone know what is going up?I noticed the crane earlier this week on my way to school. The location is between Buffalo Speedway and Kirby on the south side of 610, almost adjacent to Reliant Stadium.
LarryDierker
There is a huge(area not height) apartment complex going up at the southeast corner of Buffalo Speedway and Bellfort. Not sure if this is what you are talking about.
fatesdisastr
I'm not sure, that could e it. The tower crane on the site. I'll try and drive by and see if that is what is. More curious to see if anyone had any ideas as to what was going on.

fatesdisastr
I snapped these two pics from 610 on my way to class this morning as a visual representation Edited April 5, 2012 by fatesdisastr
LarryDierker
Drove somebody to the Social security office next door and decided to take some pics with my girlfriends iphone. Turns out i was capturing video, so i had to take most of these as screenshots from the vids. I officially accept the nomination for worst photographer of the year. but bad pics are better than no pics. Still not sure what they are building.
KinkaidAlum
Wallace Garcia designs tons of apartments but I haven't heard about something going up right there...
'Stonian
Sorry, I was confused about the exact location, thanks for clarifying. That other location at 8811 Lakes at 610 Drive appears to be another 319 unit apartment project by Grayco Partners called "Lakeside". http://www.smartapartmentdata.com/share/Reports/Houston_Construction.pdf Houston's intown apartment construction is getting crazy... which is a good thing! 'Stonian
Also, after thumbing through Wallace Garcia portfolio, they design great multifamily apartment projects with the majority of them in Houston, so this one at Lakeside should not disappoint. LarryDierker
Cool, it is Lakeside. Wish there was a rendering, so we could know what to expect.

LarryDierker
Took some pics of this today and visited the website. CityLake is a four-story, 319-unit multifamily development currently under construction in Houston, Texas. The community is located on the I-610 South Loop, a prime development location that is rapidly becoming a destination in the market. The property boasts convenient access to major freeways and employment centers, with quick access to the Texas Medical Center. Apartment units surround two interior courtyards, with a third courtyard featuring a resort-style pool and overlooking a landscaped lake for the residents’ enjoyment and recreation. Amenities will include a state-of-the-art fitness facility, resident recreation room and business/conference center. Interiors of the homes will feature nine-foot ceilings, granite kitchen countertops with custom backsplash and undercabinet lighting, crown moulding throughout, washer and dryer in each apartment, spacious closets and intrusion alarms. CityLake is expected to open in early 2013. http://www.graycopartners.com/currentprojects/citylake.php
TheNiche
As impressed as I am at all the new development that is sprouting up in that area, I can't help but think that we're witnessing the emergence of a 21st-century version of Gulfton. Lots and lots of density, some industrial mixed in, and very limited private affluence without any meaningful public amenities that might anchor what little affluence is there. Oh well. Poor people gotta go somewhere, right? I hope that HISD's demographer has some foresight.
